Participate¶
We welcome participants from Zürich and the surrounding area who identify with any of the following — or none of them:

| Hearing loss | Reduced hearing, with or without a diagnosis |
| Hearing aids (incl. CIs) | Use of hearing aids or cochlear implants |
| Tinnitus | Ringing, buzzing, or other phantom sounds |
| Hyperacusis | Increased sensitivity to everyday sounds |
| Misophonia | Strong emotional reactions to specific sounds |
| ADHD | Attention-deficit/hyperactivity — sensory experience of noise |
| Autism | Autistic sensory processing of urban environments |
| Hypersensitivity | Heightened sensitivity to sensory input more broadly |
| General population | No diagnosed hearing or sensory condition |
What's involved¶
- Sign up. Get in touch using the contact details below and tell us a little about yourself.
- Get set up. We'll help you install the mobile app used to record short audio clips and quick ratings.
- Go about your day. While moving through the city, record a handful of short clips and rate how each spot sounded and felt.
- That's it. Your (anonymised) data helps build the shared Zürich soundscape map.
Data privacy
All submissions are pseudonymised — recordings and ratings are linked to a random participant code, never your name. See our data protection statement for details.
